AutoCAD 2006AutoCAD 2006 the latest release of AutoCAD offers several fantastic features and enhancements. Here is a summary of some of them.
Dynamic BlocksWith dynamic blocks you have the chance to replace several old fashioned blocks with a single block definition. Thus you can select the ideal block from a list. For example you can select different sizes of a bed or different shapes of a door without inserting a new block. The following image displays a sample. Here the shapes are variations of the same block.
Dynamic blocks also enable you to align blocks with edges of the drawing, stretch part of a block, rotate or move elements of a block with respect to each other, and much more.
Dynamic InputAlthough the Command line is still available in AutoCAD 2006 you can get rid of it and use a command entry system that is attached to your cursor. This feature is a great time saver. You also have the chance to enter the angles and lengths directly on the drawing area rather than the Command line.
CalculatorThe new AutoCAD 2006 interactive calculator is nothing but fantastic. If you are a designer and need to incorporate calculations in your drawing you will love this new powerful feature. The calculator is in the form of a standard palette and ready to use even when a command is running.
WorkspacesNow you can lock toolbars and/or palettes in place. You can also save the arrangement of toolbars/palettes under different names and enable them with a single click. This feature saves your time and makes AutoCAD 2006 even better.
CustomizationThe customization system in AutoCAD 2006 is totally new and done through a single dialog box. Forget about the old fashioned menu groups. But don't worry! You can still migrate your old customized menus and toolbars to AutoCAD 2006. (Click image to enlarge)
